From our passion to your practice
Fenice was not imagined — it was forged through years of competition. Luigi Menichino has been practicing HEMA for over a decade, alongside ten years in combat sports such as kickboxing. Over time, he has built a strong competitive record, winning multiple national titles in Italy and earning more than 40 medals across Italy and Europe.
Fabrizio Danese began training in HEMA in 2019 at the same club. Driven by a strong vision for the sport, he went on to co-found Comense Scherma in 2023 together with Luigi and a group of teammates — a club that quickly established itself, achieving over 100 medals across Europe and 5 national titles in Italian championships.
Different paths, same environment: constant training, competition, and a clear understanding of what fighters truly need.

In 2023 Luigi and Fabrizio began experimenting with their own protective gear, focusing on developing a one-handed weapon glove that could combine high protection with freedom of movement and reduced weight. This is where Andrea and Mattia from Falconidi came in — a company known for high-quality protective gear for motorcyclists, built around a distinctive Italian design philosophy. Sharing the same attention to performance and protection, the collaboration naturally evolved. Through this partnership, Falconidi opened a dedicated sports line, and Fenice was officially born. By 2026, Fenice reached over 500 one-handed weapon gloves delivered worldwide, expanding its range to include jackets, pants, padded shirts, and gear bags — all built with the same principle: real experience, turned into functional equipment.

Federico is a HEMA instructor and martial artist with over a decade of experience in historical fencing. He began his journey in 2012, developing a strong foundation in German Longsword before expanding his studies to I.33 and the works of Fiore dei Liberi. Since 2014, he has been teaching regularly and leading seminars across Italy and abroad.
Professor Ross is a historical fencing practitioner with over a decade of experience, deeply rooted in the study of arms and armor from antiquity to the Middle Ages. His work combines practical knowledge as a HEMA fighter with hands-on expertise as a blacksmith. His perspective bridges historical accuracy, craftsmanship, and modern combat practice.
